Recommended Buy September 14, 2009 K. Moran I had finally convinced my boyfriend to purchase is textbooks for school through Amazon; he had me make the purchases, but waited until almost the last minute to make them and I was worried that all the hype I had given Amazon would appear untrue. NOT SO! I am never let down when I make purchase and would recommend this seller and item to anyone.
Great Book for those who like or are learning about criminal law. September 28, 2009 Ricardo A. Franco (Wisconsin) Great for those who like to read about criminal law or those who are still in school involving a career related with criminal law. Presents many court cases that help to explain all the chapters material.
Good Introduction to Criminal Law July 23, 2010 Robert Kimbrel I feel that this book is a good introduction to criminal law. While it is true that it may not go into great detail about the subject, I do not believe that it was the author's intent to write such a book. Samaha provides the information in a way that students that are not law students can read and understand. When reviewing a textbook it is important to consider who the author's intended audience is. One cannot blame the text or the author if a college or university picks the wrong book for a certain level of class.
Criminal Law by Joel Samaha October 1, 1999 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
Joel Samaha's book CRIMINAL LAW is wonderful. This book interprets criminal law in our society today. The differences between misdemeanors and felonies, jails and prisons, first, second and third degree murder, as well as other statute, constitutional and case or decisional laws. From Self Defense to Insanity (M'Naghten rule, Durham Rule-Product test, Irresistible Impulse and Substantial Capacity Test) this book goes into detail with the elements of many crimes along with actual case law to help you better understand the concept of what he is talking about. It will also teach you about the constitution and it's ammendments and how it affects criminal law today. WHERE DID OUR LAWS COME FROM? WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MEDICALLY INSANE AND LEGALLY INSANE? WHAT ARE SOME NONLEGAL INFLUENCES ON CRIMINAL LAW? HOW DO YOU READ, ANALIZE AND FIND CASES? These are just a few questions Samaha answers in his book, if you are interested in learning more about this subject simply read CRIMINAL LAW. It will give you a sense on what todays law is all about.
Criminal Law June 26, 2006 E. Long 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I thought this book was very useful in the study of Criminal Law at the undergraduate level. I enjoyed the author's selection of cases and thought that they were edited well so that they remained readable.
