The product is a very informative text in the field of ethics in the criminal justice system. It would be great for any class related to the aforementioned topic.

4 out of 5 stars Good Intro Ethics book for CJ   January 26, 2010
Carl Franklin (Cedar City, UT USA)
I've used this book for the last couple years, and in fact I am one of the listed reviewers the publisher used for the last edition. I think the author does a decent job of presenting the material overall. Thbe book has a very pro-CJ approach, which makes it a good choice for students. There are other books on the market that take a more "preachy" approach to ethics, and you can tell the authors often think that CJ professionals are beneath them. That's why I like this book, the author is clearly writing for a profession she has respect for and it shows.

This has some good "real world" application and provides clear explanations. The best material is that a student can not only understand but also apply at later times.

I supplement the book with more theory at points, so I guess my only recommendation would be to strengthen that area. That would make the book longer, though, and would probably price it much differently. For what it is, this is a good introductory book for ethics in CJ. The text can spark a reader's interest in the topic or serve as a good foundation for future professionals.

I used this book for my crimnal justice ethics course and I did not find it to be very useful. The only purpose this book served was for my quizes I took through the course, otherwise the rest of the material was from my professor. Even my professor didn't care for this book very much either.
